About Leaders In The Making:

Membership:

Leaders in the Making is open to any student at Paul Laurence Dunbar interested in personal development, college/career awareness and leadership. Students interested in membership should attend a general club meeting, complete a membership application and pay the $10 membership dues.

Community Service:

Leaders in the Making members complete community service projects in a wide variety of areas. We are always looking to show our Dunbar "Pride" and give back to the community.

Career/College Information:

Members of LIM receive up-to-date information concerning admissions requirements, employability skills and scholarship opportunities. Members frequently network with college representatives to understand the application process and learn more about possible fields of study. In addition, members conduct regularly scheduled visits to many college campuses for first hand exposure. Speakers visit monthly to share vital information about job skills and responsibilities.

Homework Night:

This is an opportunity for LIM members to study together and provide homework assistance to members in the group. The "Homework Night" concept provides additional support for academic assistance in all subjects.

Fundraising:

LIM members are required to participate in individual/group fundraising. Leaders in the Making fundraisers require members to engage in event planning, marketing and sales at various events. Funds earned through these activities help to cover our awards and travel expenses.

Club Points (Responsibility Points):

All members earn points for attendance and participation in club events. Students who excel academically and earn high point values are invited to participate in our fall and spring college tours (October 2009 & April 2010).
