  BOSTON UNIVERSITY -  This summer, gain a lifetime of enrichment in this exciting head start to your college future.  High School Honors – (June 29-Aug 8) In this six-week program, students entering their senior year in the fall of 2008 earn up to 8 college credits in two undergraduate courses, or pursue scientific research under faculty guidance.  Academically motivated students may choose General Honors or Research Internship in Science and Engineering Deadline:  June 1, 2008

Summer Challenge – (3 sessions: June 15-27; July 6-18; July 27-Aug 8)  In this two-week program, students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year in the fall of 2008 choose two non-credit seminars and preview college life.  Deadline:  May 1, 2008

NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY / National High School Institute  - (Session dates vary from June 29 – July 13)  - This summer NHSI will offer 6 divisions of study:   Doon-Hardy Debate Scholars, Speech, Journalism, Music, Film & Video Production,  and Theatre Arts.    Participants will gain practical college level experience in their chosen field.  For more information or to apply, visit their web site at www.northwestern.edu/nhsi

ALFRED UNIVERSITY / Summer Programs  - Alfred University will be offering a variety of programs for high school students this summer on their beautiful park-like campus in New York.   Courses of study being offered are:  Astronomy (July  20-24); How to Get Into a Top Art School (Inst 1: July 13-17, Inst II: July 20-24); Business/Entrepreneurship (July 6-10); Creative Writing (Inst 1: July 6-10, Inst II: July 13-17); Women Leader s of Tomorrow (July 27-31); Computer Engineering (July 6-10); Theater (July 6-17); Girls Basketball (July 6-10); Swimming (July 6-10); Equestrian-English (July 27-31).   Program brochures are available in the Guidance Office or for more information,  e-mail: summerpro@alfred.edu or visit their web site at www.alfred.edu/summer

Eastern Kentucky University will be offering “Planning to Win”, which is a summer transition program for high school juniors and seniors with Learning Differences, Attention Deficit Disorder and other cognitive disorders who plan to attend college.     Planning to Win is scheduled for 3 days and 2 nights on the Richmond campus; Friday, June 13 through Sunday, June 15, 2008.    Deadline for registration is May 30, 2008.  This program is limited to 50 students and is FREE!   To register, call 859-622-2933 or you may pick up a registration brochure in the Guidance Office.


Rochester Institute of Technology will be offering Explore Your Future, which is a six-day summer exploration program for college-bound high school students with hearing loss who will begin their junior or senior year in fall 2008.   Student participants will: 

* Enjoy hands-on experience exploring careers in engineering, information technology, helping professions and science
* Learn more about themselves and their learning styles
* Take classes with RIT/MTID faculty who have experience working with deaf and hard-of-hearing
   students.
* Meet and study with other hard-of-hearing students from across the nation

WORCESTER  POLYTECHNIC  INSTITUTE – Would you like to spend your summer designing robots, testing model aircraft in wind tunnels, splice DNA,  or explore the world of video game design?  Or maybe you would simply like to explore options in science, technology, and engineering?    WPI will offer two summer programs to serve students with the desire to expand their knowledge in these areas.

UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON / Women in Engineering Summer Camp (July 13-18) – You’ve probably heard about engineering, but what is it really?   Explore engineering with other high school girls and get a taste of college life through hands-on experience.   Guided by UD professors, you will conduct experiments, make cool stuff, take things apart and then put them back together again.   The cost is affordable at $400, which covers a double-occupancy room, all meals and camp events.     Students are responsible for transportation to and from camp.  For more information e-mail wie@udayton.edu or visit their web site at http://engineering.udaton.edu/wie

UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA – 2008 Capstone Business Leadership Academy – (June 16-25 or July 14-23) – This summer would you like to have lunch with a Fortune 500 Executive, talk one-on-one with a Wall Street Stock Broker, or maybe ask an FBI agent why he majored in Accounting?  This program opportunity is for academically excellent high school students who will be seniors in the fall of 2008, have a GPA of 3.4 or above and ACT of 27, 1210 SAT or 140 PSAT.  The cost is $350 (ALL FEES!!!)  This is a wonderful opportunity for future business leaders.  For more information, ask to see their brochure in the Guidance Office or visit their web site at www.cba.ua.edu/summeracademy

EASTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY – SUMMER PROGRAMS

First Step to College Success is for students who have an ACT composite score of less than 18, or who have developmental education needs in the areas of English composition, reading, or mathematics.  First Step is a five-week program that offers intensive, hands-on instruction and tutorial support to students who have one or more developmental needs.  It is an excellent transitional program for students who plan to attend EKU.

Math Science & Science Academy Program is a one-week sumer camp for high-achieving students who have an ACT composite score of 25+, and who have high scores in the areas of math or science reasoning.  The program is an on-campus residential program.  The cost of the program is $350, which includes tuition, housing, meals, and program materials.  A program schedule and biographies for faculty who are participating in this summer’s program are on the EKU/MSA web site.
